GIFT Nifty Hits Historic $23.67 Billion Turnover Record

GIFT Nifty has reached a new milestone after recording its highest-ever single-day turnover of $23.67 billion on September 25, 2026, marking a fresh record for activity on the international derivatives platform.

Trading volume also reached a record 512,023 contracts during the session. The latest turnover figure surpassed the previous high of $23.48 billion, recorded on February 20, 2026.

Open Interest Crosses $21 Billion

Market activity also strengthened in terms of open positions. Open interest reached a record $21.87 billion, represented by 471,287 contracts on September 25.

The figure exceeded the previous record of $21.56 billion, set on June 25, 2026.

The simultaneous increase in turnover, trading volume and open interest points to a significant expansion in activity across GIFT Nifty's derivatives market.

Trading Activity Continues to Expand

GIFT Nifty began full-scale operations at GIFT City on July 3, 2023. Since then, the platform has recorded more than 76.19 million contracts in cumulative trading volume, while cumulative turnover reached approximately $3.52 trillion as of September 25, 2026.

The latest milestone follows another strong session on September 24, when GIFT Nifty recorded 457,999 contracts, turnover of $21.18 billion and open interest of $20.93 billion.

GIFT Nifty is operated through NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), providing an international venue for trading Nifty-linked derivatives.

The latest records underline the continued expansion of trading activity at GIFT City as India's international financial market infrastructure develops.
